A 10-year-old girl and a 55-year-old man were rescued from Hempstead Harbor near Glen Cove Friday morning after their personal watercraft began taking on water, Nassau police said.

Marine Bureau officers were called to the scene, about three-fourths of a mile from the harbor, at 9:15 a.m., police said.

There they found the girl on the partially submerged watercraft and the man in the water, unable to board the vehicle, police said.

Officers responded to the scene, and helped the man and girl to safety in a police boat. The watercraft was towed to shore, and no injuries were reported, police said.
