Man knocked down in Valley Stream robbery
Police said they are searching for five suspects who attempted to rob a 28-year-old man on Halloween night on a street in Valley Stream.
The incident happened on West Valley Stream Boulevard at about 9 p.m., Nassau County police said. Police said one teen -- who was 14 to 17 years old -- approached the man, demanding money.
The victim "ignored the suspect and attempted to pass" the group -- only to be struck in the head with an unknown object and knocked down, police said.
The victim then got to his feet and fled. Police said the suspects also fled, running north on Bucknell Road.
The victim was treated at the scene, police said.
Investigators said the assailant is about 5-foot-8 and wore a maroon sweatshirt and dark jeans. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
