A man leaving work at a Mineola business was robbed of a bag of cash Tuesday night, Nassau police said.

The victim left Al's Hubcaps, 490 W. Jericho Tpke., at 8:35 p.m. and was getting into his car, police said, when a man approached him and demanded the bag.

After a brief struggle, the attacker, who was wearing a dark hooded shirt, got control of the bag, police said, and threatened that he had a gun.

No gun was displayed, police said, but the robber and a second man were able to leave on foot with the bag that contained an unspecified amount of money.

Police declined to comment on whether there was a connection between this robbery and another that took place at a Mineola grocery store, also on Jericho Turnpike, five hours earlier.

Detectives asked that anyone with information contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
