A man walking across a parking lot at the Sunrise Cinemas in Valley Stream was jumped from behind by eight men, at least three of whom put guns to the man's head, police said.

The robbery took place Monday at 6:45 p.m. outside the movie complex on Sunrise Highway. Nassau County police said the robbers took $170 from the victim, 31, then fled across the border to Queens.

The victim, who was unidentified, was treated for cuts and contusions to his face by a police department ambulance medical technician.

Police said two of the men who came up to the victim from behind displayed black 9-mm handguns and held them to each side of the victim's face.

A third man also pointed a silver handgun at the victim's face, police said. A fourth man then struck the victim in the face with what was believed to be the butt handle of a handgun, police said. The robbers then took the cash and ran.

Police said the victim told him that seven of the eight men wore bandannas. He gave a partial description of the eighth.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
