Man robbed of cash, cigarettes on Uniondale street
Three suspects, armed with a knife, robbed a 55-year-old man on a street in Uniondale on Sunday evening, stealing cash and a pack of Marlboro cigarettes, police said.
The victim was not injured.
Nassau County police said the robbery occurred near the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and Norris Avenue at about 7 p.m. They said the victim, whose identity was not released, was approached by the three suspects who, armed with a knife, demanded cash.
The suspects then rifled through the victim's pockets, stealing cash from his wallet -- and also stealing the cigarettes.
The trio then fled the scene on foot, police said.
The suspects are believed to be in their early 20s and about 5-foot-10. Two wore gray hoodies and blue jeans. A description of clothing worn by the third suspect was unavailable.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
