An armed robber, wearing a blue Yankees baseball cap and a blue jacket with "Yankees" emblazoned on the back, held up a man Wednesday afternoon on a street in Freeport, stealing his cellphone, Nassau County police said.

No one was injured in the daylight robbery, which occurred at 5:20 p.m. near the intersection of Rogers Place and Independence Avenue.

Police ask anyone with information regarding the armed robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

Police said the robber was armed with a black semiautomatic handgun and was clean-shaven and with a scar on his lip. His approximate age was not immediately clear.
