Fifth Squad detectives are looking for a ponytailed bandit who pulled a kitchen knife on a man while he was stealing his notebook computer in Valley Stream Tuesday, Nassau County police said.

Police said the victim, 29, was sitting outside the Michaela Leather & Fur store in the Green Acres Mall at about 3:53 p.m., working on an Apple Mac notebook computer.

A tall, slim man in his 20s with a ponytail snatched the computer from the victim, police said. When challenged, the suspect pulled a kitchen knife and threatened the victim.

The subject, who was wearing a blue shirt, gray pants and black shoes, ran toward the parking lot, police said in a news release.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
