Man robs teen's iPhone in Uniondale
An 18-year-old girl walking home from a soccer game at Uniondale High School was robbed by a man who stole an iPhone from her pocketbook early Wednesday evening, police said.
The robbery was at 6:10 p.m. on Maple Avenue and Webster Avenue in Uniondale, Nassau County police said.
The girl was not injured in the incident.
Police said the girl was walking home when the assailant, described as 6 feet tall with short black hair and wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans, "engaged her in conversation," then grabbed at her pocketbook.
The two struggled, police said. The man pushed the girl to the ground, grabbed the bag and stole the iPhone.
He then fled south on Greengrove Avenue and west onto Cedar Street, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
