A Hempstead man whose body was found buried in the Roosevelt Preserve last week died as a result of "the actions of another," Nassau County police said Tuesday.

The victim was identified as Johnnie Floyd, 46, police said in a statement.

"According to detectives, information was developed that a body was buried in the Roosevelt Preserve at the end of Frederick Avenue," the statement said.

After a search by homicide detectives and other police units, the body was found at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the statement said.

A police spokesman declined to provide any details beyond what was in the statement.

The statement asked anyone with information on "this crime" to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS (8477).
