A man was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with severe injuries after a two-car crash in Hicksville Sunday morning, Nassau County police reported.
A pickup truck and a sedan collided at Barter Lane and Newbridge Road at 10:43 a.m., authorities said.
The impact sent the two vehicles careening into the parking lot of a nearby Citgo gas station.
Hicksville Fire Department members used heavy rescue equipment to free the driver of the sedan from the wreckage, Hicksville Chief of Department Ed Korona said. Police did not identify the man, whose age was estimated to be about 22 or 23. He was taken to the hospital with severe trauma to his chest and head.
The driver of the pickup truck was shaken, but unhurt, authorities reported.
