Man shot in mouth in robbery try in Roosevelt, cops say
A man walking in Roosevelt on Monday was shot in the mouth when two men on bicycles tried to rob him, Nassau County police said.
Detectives said the victim, 29, was approached by two men riding bikes near the 100 block of Long Beach Road about 9 p.m.
They tried to rob him and a struggle ensued, police said.
One of the suspects produced a gun and shot the victim; the suspects fled on foot west on Debevoise Avenue, police said.
The victim also ran off before collapsing in front of a West Centennial Avenue residence, police said. He had one gunshot wound to his mouth and was taken to a hospital for treatment; he is listed in stable condition.
