Man slashed in robbery attempt
Two men tried to rob a man walking along a street in South Floral Park early Wednesday, slashing him but then fleeing without getting a cent, Nassau County police said.
The attack occurred near the corner of Arcade Street and Rocquette Avenue at 1 a.m.
Police said the attackers got out of a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Honda or a Hyundai, approached the victim, 35, and demanded cash.
Unable to get money from the man, the attackers slashed him "numerous times" on the legs, arms and stomach, then fled in the car, police said. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon was used.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
