The father of a young boy kicked open the door of his ex-girlfriend's home on Old Country Road in Westbury on Saturday and demanded to see the child and his ex, authorities said.

The man, Christopher Yonko, 25, encountered a relative of the ex, grabbed her, punched her in the face and then held a small knife to her throat, police said.

"The victim's mother then entered the room and began yelling, causing the subject to flee," police said in a statement.

Neither the ex-girlfriend nor the boy was home at the time of Saturday's incident, at about 2:20 a.m., police said.

Yonko, of Manhattan, is still at large and is being sought on a burglary charge.

The victim, 27, suffered pain to her face but refused medical attention, police said.

Under state law, a person is guilty of burglary, a felony, for entering a residence for the purpose of committing a crime.
