Man stable after shot on Hempstead street
A 29-year-old man was shot in the torso and right hand by three masked men as he walked along a Hempstead street with a friend Monday, Nassau County police said.
Police said the victim was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition.
The friend was uninjured.
Police are still searching for the shooters.
The incident took place on Seaman Avenue just before 11 p.m. Monday, police said.
Police said the victims were walking along the street when the trio of masked assailants, all believed to be in their late teens, approached them from behind and opened fire.
It was not clear how many shots were fired.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
