Search for man in CVS drugstore robbery in New Hyde Park, police say
Nassau police are looking for a man who allegedly stole several boxes of allergy medication from a drugstore in New Hyde Park on Tuesday and told an employee who tried to stop him that he was armed.
The man walked into the CVS pharmacy at 310 Hillside Ave. at 5:35 p.m. and was seen by an employee stealing boxes of Claritin and putting them in his pants pockets, police said. When the employee approached him, the suspect motioned to his waistband and said he had a gun, but didn't display one, police said.
He then fled on foot south with proceeds valued at $490.85, police said. No one was hurt in the robbery.
Police said the suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build and wearing black baggy jeans, a blue T-shirt, a Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat and earrings in both ears.
Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
