Man steals women's purses in Seaford
An unidentified man knocked down a woman walking with her 86-year-old mother Wednesday afternoon in Seaford and took their pocketbooks, Nassau County police said.
Seventh Squad detectives said the woman, 54, was walking on Jerusalem Avenue with her mother at about 1:30 p.m. when the man came up behind her and grabbed her around the neck.
After knocking her to the ground, the man took the purses of both women and fled on a blue and silver bicycle, police said.
The woman had contusions and back pain but refused medical attention, police said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8427. All calls will remain confidential.
