Man stopped for speeding on Meadowbrook faces drug charges
He was stopped on the northbound Meadowbrook Parkway early Sunday doing 86 mph in a 55-mph zone, State Police said.
But when troopers pulled over the black Honda Accord, they smelled marijuana, police said.
Louis Niles, 28, of 145-02 224th St. in Rosedale, Queens, was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic violations. Police said Niles' blood-alcohol content tested at .16 percent.
Police said a clear plastic bag of marijuana was on the driver's side door handle.
They also said the two troopers noticed Niles had "impaired motor coordination, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol on his breath."
The stop was made at 2:53 a.m. Sunday, police said.
All charges are returnable to First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 16.
