A 58-year-old man was injured Thursday night when he was struck by a car as he attempted to cross Old Country Road in Mineola, Nassau County police said.

The man suffered what police called serious but nonlife-threatening injuries. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital.

The driver, who also was not identified, was not charged.

Police said the accident occurred at 6:42 p.m. The pedestrian was crossing Old Country Road, headed north, when he was struck by the westbound car near Main Street.
