Man suspected in Rockville Centre break-ins

It is Burglary 101.

If you break into a house to rob it, don't leave your wallet at the scene of the crime.

A suspected burglar from Queens didn't follow that advice - and now he is under arrest, charged with committing two burglaries in Rockville Centre in the past two months, police said.

Nassau County police said Pablo Paredes, 25, of 205-60 Brian Crescent, Bay Terrace, was arrested following an 11 a.m. break-in Tuesday at a home on Tennyson Avenue.

Police said Paredes entered the home after breaking a basement window - but fled the scene after a burglar alarm was activated.

A woman was in the house and was not injured, police said.

However, police said, she saw Paredes flee. "Additionally, the defendant dropped his wallet containing his identification in the home," police said.

Police said Paredes was arrested at his home at 4:25 p.m. Tuesday.

They said that during his interrogation, Paredes admitted to breaking into a home on The Fenway in Rockville Centre on Dec. 18. During that burglary, Paredes stole a flat-screen TV and a Nintendo game system, which was recovered from Paredes' car, police said.

Paredes was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary and was to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
