With a potential re-election bid a couple of years away, Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano is sitting on a campaign treasury of $725,262, according to his latest campaign finance filing.
Republican Mangano, elected to a four-year term in the fall of 2009, raised $411,568 during the past six months and spent $176,762, according to his semiannual report with the state Board of Elections.
An early December fundraising event at Disney World in Florida "was a success and helped the county executive achieve his goal of raising nearly a half-million dollars over the past six months," a spokesman said in a statement. However, the spokesman said the campaign did not break out the amount attributable to that event.
Among the scores of overall contributors were: the Long Island Flag Football League, $2,000; Rocco Trotta of the Liro Group in Syosset, $5,000; and $2,500 from Bowne Management Systems of Mineola.
On the spending side, Mangano paid more than $26,000 to McLaughlin and Associates of Blauvelt, N.Y., his political consulting firm, and made two donations of $12,000 each to the Nassau County Republican Committee.
The other Nassau countywide elected officials reporting were:
District Attorney Kathleen Rice had $207,383 remaining in her treasury from last year's Democratic primary race for state attorney general.
County Comptroller George Maragos, a Republican who financed his own election campaign in 2009, had $16,019 in his treasury.
County Clerk Maureen O'Connell, also a Republican, had $77,089 on hand.
