Police and firefighters responded to a fire in a Macy's department store in Manhasset Sunday morning, authorities said.
About 75 firefighters from the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene after the fire erupted in an elevator shaft about 10:23 a.m., Nassau County police said.
No one was injured, authorities said.
Phone calls to Macy's weren't immediately returned.
Manhasset-Lakeville fire Capt. Lee Genser said the blaze was under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office and the police department's arson and bomb squad.
Only employees were in the store, Genser said. The store's sprinkler system doused the fire.
Fire officials opened doors and used fans to help clear the smoke.
