A Manhattan man who was pulled from a Jones Beach pool Saturday was later pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities said Sunday.

State park police said they are investigating a "water submersion" at the West Bathhouse pool, but would not classify it as a drowning, saying they are awaiting details of the medical examiner's report.

Authorities said lifeguards pulled the man, 58, from the pool about 5:21 p.m. Saturday and performed CPR until emergency medical technicians arrived.

He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was pronounced dead.
