A woman crossing a Roosevelt street Monday was killed when she was hit by a car, Nassau County police said.

Maria Cebellos, 50, of Hempstead, was hit by a 2009 Ford sedan driven by a man, 48, as she attempted to cross Nassau Road at West Roosevelt Avenue at about 12:10 a.m.

Cebellos had "multiple trauma injuries" and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said Tuesday in a news release.

A brake and safety check was performed.

Police said the investigation into the accident, which was "absent of criminality," continues.
