Massapequa man, 73, dies in car crash
A 73-year-old Massapequa man died Sunday when his car left the road and overturned, Nassau County police said.
According to authorities, Serge Maignan was driving his 2007 Mercedes-Benz south on Carmans Road in Massapequa shortly before noon when his car left the road, struck the curb, a fence and some shrub near homes on Linwood Place.
The vehicle, in which Maignan's 70-year-old wife, Margaret, was a passenger, then overturned, authorities said.
Maignan had fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Margaret Maignan was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities said the car was impounded for brake and safety tests as part of the investigation into the cause of the crash.
