Massapequa man charged in burglaries

John Wallace, 22, of 128 First St., Massapequa, is under arrest, facing two counts of third-degree burglary, Nassau County police said Thursday.
He stole more than $1,000 in cigarettes from two Dairy Barn stores in Massapequa and Seaford during burglaries in July and August, police said.
Wallace was arrested at his home just after 3 p.m. Wednesday by members of the police Asset Forfeiture Criminal Intelligence Rapid Response Team. He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Police said Wallace forced open a sliding door at a Dairy Barn store on Broadway in Massapequa at 3:43 a.m. July 31, stealing about $600 worth of cigarettes. On Aug. 7 at 2:34 a.m. police said Wallace did the same thing at a Dairy Barn on Jerusalem Avenue in Seaford, stealing $450 in cigarettes.
It was not immediately clear what led police to Wallace.
