The Massapequa Park Village Board tonight votes on whether to authorize the issuance of more than $3.5 million in bonds for street repairs, building and park renovations, and new LED street lighting.

The largest bond, for $3,415,000, is primarily for street reconstruction and the purchase of equipment, village Administrator/Clerk Peggy Caltabiano said.

Consultants are inspecting streets to determine which ones are most in need of work, Caltabiano said. That priority list will be used to determine how the bond money will be spent, she said, adding that the street work likely won’t begin until 2018.

The village board work session begins at 7 p.m. at Village Hall. The regular board meeting starts at 8 p.m.
