THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $189,746,159 budget for 2015-16, a 0 percent increase from the current budget. The local tax levy would increase 0.95 percent, from $155,703,530 to $157,178,136.

This increase falls within the state-imposed tax-cap limit of 1.81 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family house would increase 0.95 percent, from $6,789 to $6,854.

The proposed budget includes a 1 percent contractual increase for teachers. The proposed budget maintains the current level of programs and teacher staffing with the addition of four assistant coaching stipends for varsity girls and boys volleyball and basketball.
