Jose Cruz Nunez, of Hempstead, killed in crash on Meadowbrook State Parkway, police say

A driver died following a two-car collision on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Hempstead Sunday afternoon, New York State Police said.
Jose Cruz Nunez, 38, of Hempstead, was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center shortly after the 1:39 p.m. crash, a state police spokesperson said.
Police said Nunez was northbound south of Hempstead Turnpike when he struck another vehicle traveling in the same direction. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured in the crash, according to police.
The northbound side of the parkway was closed in the area of the crash for about two hours Sunday. Police said an investigation was ongoing.
