Medical waste found on Port Washington beach

Nassau County police are trying to determine the origin of medical waste found washed up on the shore Wednesday morning at Manorhaven Beach Park in Port Washington.
A worker at the beach on Manorhaven Boulevard discovered "approximately 78 hypodermic needles, 43 hypodermic wrappers and 32 vials of a miscellaneous drug" on the beach at 8:10 a.m., Nassau police said in a news release.
The Nassau County Police Emergency Service Unit removed the waste, police said.
Police are investigating.
