New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Sen. John Brooks (D-Seaford) have canceled a meeting that was scheduled for Thursday in Seaford for residents to learn about unclaimed state funds.

Officials had been urging residents to explore the comptroller’s unclaimed funds program for forgotten money that residents may be entitled to receive. The state comptroller’s office has more than $75 million of unclaimed funds in the 8th Senate District alone, according to the comptroller’s office.

No date was set for the meeting to be rescheduled. Residents still can search for unclaimed funds at the comptroller’s website, www.osc.state.ny.us.
