Cars were zipping along most Long Island roads early on a sunny Memorial Day, but there some slight buildups as the day progressed.

There were short lines at the tolls booths on the Queens-bound side of both the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges, but westbound traffic was moving well at all crossings.

Route 106 in Oyster Bay was reopened after a fatal crash Sunday night closed lanes in both directions. Fluttering bits of yellow police tape could still be seen by passing motorists.

Beach-bound traffic was flowing easily on both the Meadowbrook and Wantagh Parkways, and traffic was light on most other north-south and east-west corridors on Long Island.

The Long Island Rail Road, running on a holiday schedule, reported no delays.
