A Merrick man allegedly sitting in his car with his pants down, fully exposed, was arrested Friday afternoon after a mother and her two young children saw him, Nassau police said.

James Calisto, 38, was sitting in a car parked in front of a Rite Aid on Merrick Road in Massapequa, police said. A woman, who was not identified, and her two children, ages 6 and 4, noticed the man sitting in the car while exposed, police said.

Calisto allegedly drove away, and the woman called police. Officers found Calisto a few blocks away, at Merrick Road and Arlyn Drive, and arrested him just before 5:30 p.m.

He was charged with one count of public lewdness and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and later released, police said. Calisto is due back in court Wednesday.
