Minor coastal flooding has been forecast for parts of Brooklyn to southern Nassau County starting late Monday at high tide, the National Weather Service said.

Water levels have been half a foot to one foot higher than normal, setting the stage for isolated flooding during high tide, from 10 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Tuesday, the Upton-based service said.

A gale force warning has also been issued for Tuesday off the north and south shores, with winds expected to gain strength into Wednesday, forecasters said. Gusts may reach up to 35 knots Wednesday night before dying down after midnight, the service said.
