Missing Franklin Square man found in Queens
A deaf and mute man who suffers from Down syndrome was found "in good physical condition" Friday, almost 11 hours after he was reported missing near his home in Franklin Square, police said.
Mohammad Saleem, 22, was discovered Friday at 8:30 a.m. in Queens, Nassau County police said. He had been the subject of a Silver Alert issued at 9:35 p.m. Thursday, more than five hours after he was last seen on Franklin Avenue near Gavrin Boulevard.
Police described Saleem as 5-foot-4 and weighing 145 pounds, with tattoos on his arms of his former address and telephone number. It was not immediately clear Friday how he ended up in Queens.
A Silver Alert is issued when a senior citizen or individual suffering from dementia or other cognitive disorder is reported missing.
