Moderate risk for rip currents on South Shore, weather service says
Beachgoers face a moderate risk for rip currents Tuesday at Long Island's South Shore, the National Weather Service said.
For boaters, southerly winds increase ahead of a cold front that slowly moves across the waters later Tuesday and into the evening.
Winds diminish and then shift briefly to the west northwest.
The service's Upton office said sub-small craft advisory conditions are likely from Tuesday through the weekend "as high pressure builds toward the waters with a relatively weak pressure gradient."
