Mom thanks first-responders who helped deliver baby

Karen Hollander gave birth to a healthy baby girl Tuesday afternoon with help from Nassau police and ambulance technicians -- two weeks before the due date for her fifth child.
Cradling her newborn Wednesday morning at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, Hollander thanked first-responders who came to her aid and introduced baby Alexandra.
Third Precinct officers were called to a Bank of America parking lot on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck about 5 p.m. Tuesday, where they found the 40-year-old Great Neck woman in labor, a police news release said. Police and Nassau County ambulance technicians moved Hollander into an ambulance to take her to the hospital, escorted by a patrol car.
On the way there, police said, ambulance technicians delivered the baby girl minutes before arriving at the hospital.
