A 67-year-old man died after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Massapequa Friday night, Nassau County police said.

The identity of the dead man has not been released.

The incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. when a 22-year-old man was riding a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle west on Merrick Road South while the 67-year-old man and another pedestrian were crossing Merrick Road, just east of Glen Road, officials said.

The motorcycle rider was airlifted to a hospital and was listed in serious condition Friday night, officials said. The other pedestrian who was struck, whose name and age were not provided, also was hospitalized and listed in fair condition, police said.

The incident prompted police to partially close for hours Merrick Road, in both directions, between Unqua and Carman Mill roads. The road was reopened shortly before 11 p.m., police said.
