Motorcyclist Joffre Sierra-Chalen killed in collision with dump truck in Brookville, police say

 A Glen Cove man was killed when his motorcycle struck a dump truck on Cedar Swamp Road in Brookville on Thursday evening, the Nassau County police said.

 Joffre Sierra-Chalen, 28, was driving the 2002 Yamaha motorcycle north on Cedar Swamp Road shortly after 5 p.m. when he struck the 2000 Hino dump truck as it attempted to turn from Hemlock Drive onto Cedar Swamp Road, according to a police news release.

A Jericho Fire Department paramedic pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene, the police said. The driver of the dump truck, a 55-year-old man, was not injured in the crash.

Police said the investigation, which led to the closure of Cedar Swamp Road between Fruitledge and Apple roads for nearly four hours Thursday, was ongoing.
