Motorcyclist dies after hitting car in Hempstead Village, cops say

A motorcyclist died after hitting the rear passenger door of a vehicle that was pulling into a driveway, Hempstead Village police said.

The man, 32, was on Lawson Street, near Pierson Avenue, when the crash happened at 7:12 p.m., police said.

He was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, where he was pronounced dead at 7:27 p.m., police said. His name was not released, pending notification of his relatives.

Lawson Street has been shut down in both directions as village police and Nassau County homicide detectives investigate.
