A 21-year-old Hempstead man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle hit a rock on a street in Glen Head, ejecting him from the bike, police said.

The fatal crash occurred on Glen Cove Avenue near University Place at 9:41 p.m.

Nassau County police said Jeffrey Schneider was traveling north on Glen Cove Avenue when the front tire of his 2007 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle "struck a large rock" -- ejecting him into a large tree.

Schneider was transported by Glenwood Fire Company ambulance to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead by a physician at 10:36 p.m.

Police said there was no apparent criminality and the motorcycle was impounded for a safety inspection.
