Motorcyclist seriously hurt in parkway crash
A 49-year-old Central Islip man is in serious condition at Nassau University Medical Center after being ejected from his motorcycle Wednesday morning on the westbound Southern State Parkway in Uniondale, according to New York State Police.
It appears that the motorcycle ridden by Daniel Fortune hit the center median guardrail at 10:56 a.m. just west of Exit 21, Nassau Road, police said. It was a one-vehicle accident, police said.
Fortune was airlifted to the East Meadow medical center.
Westbound lanes were closed until about 12:15 p.m., police said.
