Multivehicle accident temporarily clogs LIE in Jericho
As many as three westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway near Exit 42 in Jericho were backed up late Thursday morning because of an accident involving several vehicles, Nassau County police said.
A state Department of Transportation webcam at Exit 42, the Northern State Parkway in Jericho, showed traffic stopped in the HOV lane and slowed in the left lane as police and emergency vehicles worked to clear traffic.
In other lanes, webcam shots showed traffic slowed to a crawl.
By Exit 45, Manetto Hill Road, another webcam showed westbound traffic moving normally.
The same traffic webcam shots showed traffic moving smoothly again this afternoon.
Nassau County police said they responded to a call at 10:38 a.m. and that the roadway was cleared of damaged vehicles by noon. They could not provide any more information.
