A Muttontown motorcyclist died from his injuries Saturday after colliding with a 1992 Jeep on Jericho Turnpike near Hicks Nurseries in Old Westbury Nassau police said..

Ian Axelrod, 45, was traveling east on his 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he struck the Jeep, police said. The driver of that car, an 80-year-old woman police did not identify, was driving westbound on Jericho Turnpike and trying to turn left into the nursery parking lot, Nassau County police said.

Axelrod was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

The investigation was ongoing and police report no apparent criminality.
