Woman seriously hurt when arm gets stuck in industrial machinery, police say
A 48-year-old woman suffered serious arm injuries in a workplace incident Tuesday at My Dad's Cookies in Oceanside, Nassau County police said.
Police said that while working at the company site on New Street, the woman, whose identity was not released, saw her right arm become "impaled and lodged" in industrial machinery.
Officers, the Emergency Services Unit and volunteers from the Oceanside Fire Department all responded to the scene at 4:42 p.m. and were able to disassemble the machine — and free the woman's arm, police said. Police said the injuries included "a severe laceration" to that arm.
The woman was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
The extent of her injuries and the status of her condition were unclear Wednesday.
