A 21-year-old woman was hospitalized after police said her out-of-control car crashed into a utility pole and a Duane Reade drugstore early Friday in North Merrick.

Police said the woman was driving a black 2007 Chevrolet on Merrick Avenue at 1:20 a.m. -- and said the car crashed into the pole, then the building.

Nassau County police could not immediately give details about the driver's injuries, saying she was taken to a hospital for observation. She was not identified.

No charges have been filed.
