An 85-year-old woman died Sunday night after her car collided into another in Franklin Square, Nassau police said.

The woman was driving south at about 2:40 p.m. Sunday on Franklin Avenue and attempting to make a left turn onto Oaks Drive when her car collided with a 2011 Infiniti G37 traveling north on Franklin, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital with "multiple trauma injuries" and died some time later, police said.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 25-year-old man, suffered a broken leg and also was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. Neither driver was identified.

Police described the accident as "noncriminal," adding that both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
