Nassau cops search for Freeport robber
Nassau County police are searching for a man who they say robbed and assaulted another man in Freeport on Saturday afternoon.
The victim, 28, was at Raynor and Bedell streets at 5:10 p.m. when a man came up to him and punched him in the face and torso before taking a cellphone and cash from the victim's pocket, police said.
The robber then picked up a metal link chain and threatened the victim with it if the victim followed him, before running west on Raynor Street, police said.
He was described as about 30 years old, 6'3" tall, 200 lbs., with multiple tattoos and wearing a red baseball cap, white T-shirt and black shorts.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts, bruises and bleeding in the mouth, police said.
