Nassau County police said they are looking for a group of about six males in their mid-to-late teens who robbed and beat a man in Inwood early Monday morning.

Police said a 37-year-old man was walking on Mott Avenue at 6:05 a.m. when he was approached by six males who were described as being between 15 and 20 years old and wearing dark clothing. The suspects punched and kicked the man until he fell to the ground, and one of them reached into the man's pockets and stole his cellphone, police said. They fled in an unknown direction.

The victim, who suffered cuts to his face, was taken to a hospital to be treated, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
