Nassau County paid 13,889 employees or former employees a total of $1,002,013,139 in 2021, a decrease of 3.82% from 2020, according to public payroll data obtained under the Freedom of Information Law.

There were 780 county workers who earned more than $200,000, an increase of 6.12% from the 735 who did in 2020.

The charts below show the departments with the largest payrolls in 2021 and how many employees earned more than $200,000 each year since 2012, respectively, and the table includes information for individual employees. Total pay can amount to more than base pay and overtime because of other contractual obligations or because a retiring employee may receive a payout that includes accumulated vacation or other time. Total pay can also be less than base pay if the employee did not work a full year. See Suffolk County's payroll here. Read more about county payrolls here.
