A star-studded movie shoot scheduled to take place Monday on the Nassau County courthouse steps has been postponed indefinitely, after actress Bette Midler withdrew from the project.
A spokeswoman for HBO said the production of the movie, a biopic about the music producer-turned-murderer Phil Spector, has been suspended while Midler's role is recast. She is suffering from a herniated disk, which may require surgery, HBO spokeswoman Angela Tarantino said.
Dan Bagnuola, a spokesman for the Nassau County courts, said no plans have been made to reschedule the shoot.
The scene, which was to be shot on the south of side of the Mineola courthouse on Old Country Road, was to star Al Pacino, who is playing Spector, and Midler, playing his lawyer. About 150 extras would also have been cast in the scene, sources have said.
Spector was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2003 fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson in his home near Los Angeles.
